Singapore-based BuzzCity Pte Ltd., an e-mail alert
service company that tracks the latest information from multiple sites on
the Web, set up a mailing list partnership program that allows
business partners to customize information in their e-mailing list.
Four partners have signed up with this program so far. They are Skali, a
Malaysia-based online information service provider; Singapore Job Bank, a
local online job search and placement service provider; Adfront.Com, a
classified ads service provider; and JobSite Singapore.
In the partnership, BuzzCity will take over information tracking and
alerting from its partners through the use of its patent-pending,
information tracking technology and its e-mail alert service.
Mailing list members of these four companies can now go to the BuzzCity Web
site to select their topic preferences from these companies. They will
start receiving their daily customized news updates from April.
Existing members of BuzzCity are also entitled to this customized service
for the four companies mentioned above.
Together with BuzzCity’s existing membership base, this program creates
one of Asia’s largest personalized e-mailing list.
“BuzzCity expects to send out between 250,000 to 500,000 personalized
e-mails in the month of April,” said Dr Lai Kok Fung, founder and CEO of
BuzzCity Pte Ltd.
“This growth rate will place BuzzCity as one of the busiest Web sites in
Asia, barely three months after its incorporation.”
Lai also said he expects 1 million BuzzCity subscribers by end 1999.
BuzzCity services are free to subscribers. Revenue would come from selling
value-added services through the partners and selling banner advertisements
on e-mails and on the BuzzCity Web site.
Previously called NetBeacon Media Pte Ltd., the startup company was
incorporated early this year.
