Snap!, the portal service jointly owned by NBC and C NET, announced its national brand awareness campaign will launch this week on the NBC Television Network.

Promotional spots for Snap! will air on NBC across all dayparts, including primetime, latenight and in sports programming.

The campaign is run by Saatchi &
Saatchi
, Snap!’s agency of record. Using the slogan “building a search
engine as big as the Web itself,” the campaign’s on-air component initially
will consist of a series of six promotional spots highlighting Snap!’s
services, the firm said. They will roll out between now and the end of the
year.

Saatchi & Saatchi said it is also developing outdoor, online and print
marketing materials to complement the television campaign and extend the Snap! message.

The peacock network first started airing Snap! spots this summer during
daytime programming, and today’s roll out represents an expansion into the
bulk of its programming.

“Launching this national promotional campaign marks the redefinition of the
Internet portal market,” said Martin J. Yudkovitz, president of NBC
Interactive Media. “Our
objective is to turn Snap into a mass-media brand that positions the
service at the forefront of this booming industry.”
