Spanish- and Portuguese-focused media company StarMedia Network Inc. signed a partner
deal with EverSystems, a Latin American
provider of electronic banking solutions to bring a pan-regional mobile
banking offering to Latin America.

StarMedia Mobile and EverSystems wireless Internet platform will be
integrated to allow customers to conduct mobile banking transactions, such as
account transfers,
balance inquiries and bill payments using cellular telephones or other mobile
devices. Financial arrangements were not disclosed.

“We will work together with EverSystems to promote the development of mobile
banking solutions, representing a significant leap in the value-added
services
offered by wireless carriers,” said Enrique Narciso, general manager of
StarMedia Mobile.

“StarMedia Mobile’s leading wireless Internet platform is an important
component for EverSystems’ goal to put the electronic banking experience in
the hands of Latin American consumers,” said Cristian G. Balbontin, chief
operating officer of EverSystems USA.

EverSystems has implemented technology to deliver secure financial
transactions for about 25 financial institutions in Latin America, reaching
more than one million online banking users.
