Sweden’s InfoCreator has rolled out a new free Internet service for customers who want to publish information via WAP phones, well before WAP phones even hit the market.
By purchasing a WAP Generator, users will be able to make their own information available to other subscribers. The WAP Generator can be installed on any computer regardless of the operating system used.
Subscribers to InfoCreator’s WAP service can also access news and obtain advice and technical information. InfoCreator already has a content deal in place with Pactive, which aggregates news information from sources such as Dow Jones, AFP and CBS.
InterCreator is currently offering registration for the free service.
The company said it decided to introduce this service early because it expects serious competition in the market when the new WAP phones arrive later this year.
The service is currently offered for WAP 1.0 but will be upgraded soon to version 1.1, according to InfoCreator’s Magnus Liljegren.
