Socketware Inc. said that European
airline carrier Swissair has licensed Accucast as its
outbound e-mail marketing and messaging solution.
Swissair is Socketware’s initial international customer.
The airline will use Accucast for the first time this week to introduce and
promote its revamped Web site to its European customer base.
Financial
arrangements between the companies were not disclosed.
“Because of its advanced functionality, we see Accucast as the ultimate
e-mail communication tool with unlimited potential for helping us improve
communications with our customers,” said Andy Guenthard, general manager of
electronic commerce for Swissair.
Swissair said it plans to use Accucast on a daily basis to drive traffic to
the new site through the distribution of e-mail campaigns offering special
fares and frequent flyer mileage updates.
Swissair will also use Accucast to communicate with its
network of travel agents and to distribute press releases.
Initially, Swissair expects to distribute one million messages per month to
its customers and business partners in both HTML and plain text versions.
Accucast’s HTML detection capabilities enable Swissair to distribute rich
media content to those customers who can accept HTML and plain text messages
to those who can’t.
