Tenzing Communications Inc., provider of cached, inflight e-mail and Internet solutions that compete with Boeing’s Connexion by Boeing service, Monday appointed Cathay Pacific Airways executive Edward Nicol to serve as chief executive officer.

Nicol, a 25-year veteran of Cathay Pacific, will begin his job as CEO at Seattle-based Tenzing on Aug. 1.

“Tenzing is clearly the market leader for inflight connectivity and its newest broadband technology convinced me they would continue to be the industry standard,” Nicol said. “I am excited to be leading this progressive and successful company.”
