How does a Web site attract users and prevent the theft of its copyright-protected content?

Eileen Kent, Internet marketing consultant at Playboy Enterprises, shared her thoughts on this issue at Internet World Australia Pacific 98.

Ms. Kent, who helped design the text behind Playboy Online, discussed how Playboy balanced its free and subscription-based content to manage streaming audio and video, static images, and more than 50,000 html pages.

As well as the business logistics, Ms. Kent spoke about the psychology behind Playboy’s Web strategy, as the company successfully combined cartoons, previously unpublished material, archives and interactive facilities.
