TheTrip.com, an Internet travel service for business travelers, signed a $15 million contract with Digital Equipment’s AltaVista search site to form a new online travel service.

Under the agreement, TheTrip.com will become the exclusive travel service and
content provider to the AltaVista Search Service, which claims more than 32
million page views per day.

TheTrip.com has combined its travel content with AltaVista’s searching
capabilities to create the “travel zone.” This will offer users a customized
travel search capability, the company said.

Users can also find detailed seasonal, category-specific information on places and events around the world.
