Ticketmaster-CitySearch Upgrades Auctions

In a move intended to bulk the company’s Internet offerings, Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch (TMCS) Tuesday unveiled its upgraded auction Web site, CityAuction, now powered by the Internet Shopping Network.

The auctions will run by the ISN’s First Auction, a division of USA Networks, Inc. USA Networks also has a majority stake in TMCS.

First Auction features business-to-consumer products including home and leisure products, jewelry, apparel, consumer electronics and computers. CityAuction specialized in person-to-person auctions only. As of Tuesday, consumers can access the both sites’ range of goods from either location.

“This alliance combines our leading position in the local marketplace with the national presence of First Auction, creating the only comprehensive local and
national online auction site,” said Charles Conn, CEO of
Ticketmaster Online-CitySearch. “Now people can find a wide range of products
through either Web site.”

“By combining our services, we feel we’ve redefined the online auction experience
in a very positive way,” said Alan Citron, president of USA Networks Interactive.
“We’re thrilled to join with CityAuction in ushering in this new trend.”
