UK’s Regional Press Launches Fish4

Members of a consortium representing 80 per cent of the
UK’s regional press are behind a new Internet brand called
Fish4.

The main site
is an online directory for finding businesses in the UK, while
Fish4cars, Fish4jobs and Fish4homes will address specific
subjects.

Developed from the earlier ADHunter sites — AutoHunter, JobHunter
and PropertyHunter — the Fish4 sites are expected to secure
a respectable share of the market in the sectors they cover.

Fish4cars will have the largest database of used cars in the
country. Between 180,000 and 200,000 vehicles will be listed
at any one time, and the site will also carry finance and
insurance information.

Fish4jobs will list between 25,000-30,000 job vacancies in
the UK, drawing upon the resources of local newspapers.

Fish4homes starts with listings of 30,000 properties in
seven key regions, and this number is expected to grow
rapidly. The Fish4 group is aiming at “total UK coverage”
of the booming UK property market.

Six regional newspaper groups are backing the Fish4 projects:
Newsquest Media Group, Northcliffe Newspapers Group, Trinity
Mirror and Guardian Media Group Regional Newspapers, Regional
Independent Media, and Bristol United Press.

However, nine additional subscriber newspaper groups will
also be providing services to Fish4. They are: Newscom,
Jersey Evening Post, Guernsey Evening Press, Tindle Newspapers,
Cumbrian Newspaper Group, Kent Messenger, Johnston Press,
Tweeddale Press and Associated Newspapers (London Evening Standard).

The regional press companies in the UK have already cooperated
on the extensive This is
Britain

site, which serves as a gateway to 60 regional sites. Distribution
of Fish4 from This is Britain is scheduled for later in October.
