Ulead Systems launched a free online service, the Ulead
Graphics Optimization Toolkit, aimed at assisting Web designers in
creating Web-ready images.
The firm said it offers similar features to those found in its popular image optimization utility, SmartSaver 3.0.
“The launch of the Ulead Graphics Optimization Toolkit reflects our steady commitment to providing
users with unique and high-value solutions,” said Lotus Chen, senior VP of Ulead Systems. “As a service to our guests, we
intend to add more online graphics handling services like this, until we are
home to an entire suite of online tools that serve to encourage repeat visits and
play an important role in the global web graphics design community.”
With its interactive, WYSIWYG interface, the Ulead Graphics Optimization
Toolkit is designed to enable the designer to produce Web-friendly GIF, JPEG and PNG
images.
To use it, the vendor said, a designer uploads the image he or she wishes to reduce
and then makes a choice between the options presented. The preview button
makes it easy to obtain a balance between image quality and file size. When
the user is happy with the result, the image may be saved, yielding a
reduced-sized version that will load more quickly from a Web site.
The Ulead Graphics Optimization Toolkit is located at the WebUtilites Web
site.
Among the vendor’s other graphics products are: PhotoImpact 4,
MediaStudio Pro 5.0, Ulead GIF Animator 2.0 and Photo Express.
