Internet World Australia Pacific 98 has proved an ideal opportunity for vendors to showcase their local success stories to illustrate the need for businesses to have a Web strategy in place.

Among those was Paul Bunn, regional director of Internet commerce company
Open Market Australia, who pointed to the Disney, Playboy, and Sony sites,
for which it designed the commerce back end, as examples of the need for
businesses to think about the Internet as a business tool that required a three to five year plan.

Bunn talked about the potential for Open Market’s Enterprise Transact,
Telstra’s SureLink, and other e-commerce products to aid business
transactions.

He also believed that SET and digital certificates will facilitate client/vendor sales in Australia in the future.
