Paris-based X
and Mail
, a leading European provider of Web-based e-mail, has made its
flagship product, Xwebmail, compatible with Chinese language software.

Prior to a scheduled tour of Asia, with a patch, the French company configured
its e-mail product to such software as RichWin, NanJi Star, Twin Bridge, Union Way, and Chinese Windows.

Representatives of the French company are currently touring Hong Kong and
Taiwan meeting with potential business partners including ISP’s, telecoms,
OEM’s, and systems integrators.

“We are looking for partners who can help us to have the product fully
localized with user interface and marketing to be in Chinese,” said Patrick
Duboisset, X and Mail’s vice president of international business development.
“The big deal is to find local value added business partners.”

Xwebmail is a centralized Web-based HTML-coded e-mail client that provides
market-standard messaging features, supports advertising banners, and does not
require installation or management from an end-user station.

In operation since 1990, X and Mail has developed expertise in both X-400 and
SMTP forms of electronic messaging.

“X and Mail as a company doesn’t position e-mail just for e-mail,” Duboisset
told Asia.InternetNews. “We position the e-mail solution as a very powerful and
comprehensive one-to-one marketing tool.”

In Europe and South America, the Web e-mail company has business partners
utilizing Xwebmail to support a total of more than 865,000 user mail boxes.

X and Mail’s prominent clients include the French Post Office (La Poste), the
French military, Club Internet
(France’s #2 ISP), Telefonica
(Argentine Telecom), Activeminds
(German ISP), and ShareLook (German
Portal).
