[Toronto, CANADA] Yahoo! Canada has launched a safe and secure one-
stop Internet shopping service that allows consumers to browse, buy,
order and ship more than two million products and hundreds of major
brands from leading Canadian merchants, all from a single Canadian
Web location.

Among the more than 25 well known merchants selling online at Yahoo!
Canada Shopping are La Senza Lingerie, The Body Shop, Hush Puppies,
Indigo, Sport Mart and The Brick. Additionally, La Senza and The
Body Shop have committed to selling online exclusively through Yahoo!
Canada Shopping.

“Around the world, Yahoo! has established itself as a leading enabler
of safe and secure transactions on the Web for millions of consumers
and merchants,” said Mark Rubinstein, managing director, Yahoo!
Canada.

“We are pleased that many Canadian merchants have made the decision
to sell online through Yahoo! Canada Shopping, providing Canadians
with a unique, convenient and reliable Internet shopping experience.

Yahoo! Canada Shopping’s universal shopping cart allows users to
collect items from numerous merchants in a single occasion, and then
checkout through a streamlined, one-stop procedure that accommodates
a variety of shipping options.

According to Media Metrix Canada, more than 12 million Canadians
spent a total of 7.8 billion minutes online in August 2000, despite
traditional summer vacation activities.

According to another recent study, almost nine out of 10 Canadians
surveyed said they buy goods and services from Canadian Web sites to
keep their online dollars in the country. Cost was the primary factor
that motivated Canadians to hunt for homegrown Web stores, the study
reported.
