Yahoo! Inc., continuing to roll out offerings designed to bring in revenue from something other than Internet advertising, delivered Yahoo! Mail – Business Edition, a new premium service that allows small businesses to get a professional, branded e-mail address.
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Yahoo! said the product encompasses the technology of Yahoo! Mail and adds features such as multiple e-mail accounts with 25 megs of storage and centralized e-mail account administration.
Business Edition mail eliminates banner ads and taglines from e-mails, and offers a customized, branded e-mail address (for example, employee@yourcompany.com), Yahoo! said.
Pricing starts at $9.95 per month plus a $25 set up fee for five e-mail accounts that include features such as Spamguard; anti-virus protection through Symantec’s CarrierScan Server technology; Yahoo! Address Book and Yahoo! integration; and e-mail access from any Internet-enabled PC. The service is expandable up to 200 e-mail accounts and is currently available to users in the United States.
“The launch of Yahoo! Mail – Business Edition supports our goal of providing small businesses with essential solutions that allow them to leverage the Internet to reach new customers, grow sales, and save time and money,” said Lisa Pollock, director of messaging products at Yahoo!.
Yahoo! has launched a string of revenue initiatives over the past six months in the wake of falling ad revenues. Just last week the company reported that it narrowly made earlier promises of a pro forma quarterly profit.
