In a move to build content at its Spanish-language network, Yupi.com has bought Spanish and Latin American film site Claqueta.com.

The site will contribute daily film news to Yupi’s virtual entertainment community, Ciudad Futura.

“This agreement will allow us to further expand a unique Internet project that we initiated two years ago, by participating in more film festivals around the world and expanding the number of correspondents and collaborators throughout the Americas and Spain,” said Jon Apaolaza, who founded and directs Claqueta.com.

Yupi.com, founded in 1996, offers a search engine, e-mail, chat, home pages, and 12 channels. The network faces new competition from StarMedia (STRM), which this week launched its Periscopio.com Spanish-language portal.
