Zapata Cops an Attitude

Zapata Corporation announced today that its Internet subsidiary ZAP Corp. entered into an agreement to acquire the Attitude Network, operator of popular game Web sites including Happy Puppy and Games Domain.

Financial details were not disclosed.

Zapata said the latest additions will add more than 2 million unique users a month and more than 6 million total monthly visits to its new ZAP.com portal site.

The company added that the Attitude Network acquisition is aimed at bringing sophisticated computer users to ZAP.com in an effort to boost the overall appeal of the portal with a more Web-savvy audience.

“Attitude Network has the dominant sites in electronic games–one of the most popular uses of the web,” said Avram Glazer, President and CEO of Zapata Corp., in a statement. “It is a leader in acquiring and developing successful brands launched on the Web.”

The other Attitude Network gaming sites include Realmx, Kids Domain, Console Domain and Multi Player Online Gaming.

Zapata, which has an interest in a fish processing company, unveiled its acquisitive Web strategy in July when it announced plans to either purchase or invest in 21 Web sites and e-commerce entities.

The Internet newcomer also divided its company into two publicly traded entities with Zapata Corp. continuing operation of the marine processing business, and ZAP Corp. comprising the Internet operation.

Zapata has been on a sustained shopping spree ever since, acquiring over ten other Web sites in an effort to make its portal presence felt.
