BellSouth Internet Directory Service Posts Record Sales

Atlanta-based BellSouth said sales for its Internet yellow pages directory service, “The Real Yellow Pages Online,” completed its first year of operation and surpassed sales expectations.

For the 12 months ending April 21, the site received over 100,000 orders from
businesses in the Southeast, the company said, and current order volumes are
presently averaging over $200,000 in revenues each week.

BellSouth, like many other regionally focused telephone companies, has chosen
to use its existing print sales force to sell Internet yellow pages products.

“As you can imagine, we are ecstatic about our first year results,” said Terry
DiNatale, director–Internet sales for BellSouth IntelliVentures. “Not only
are we exceeding our sales targets, but this strong participation by our
advertisers has enabled us to achieve our strategy of populating The Real
Yellow Pages ONLINE with deep, rich local content for consumers.”

In addition to business information, The Real Yellow Pages ONLINE has
available both national residential and e-mail directories. The service also includes extensive information on local services and attractions, including stadium and theatre seating charts and helpful information for newcomers.

Also, BellSouth news releases dating back one year are available by fax at no charge by calling 1-800-758-5804, ext. 095650.
