CMP Media Inc. in Manhasset, NY redesigned its Web site and said it will begin selling channel sponsorships in 14 major technology-focused categories.

The site features a new interface that’s designed to allow users to search and browse through the network’s pages of technology-based content and utilities with greater speed and efficiency.

“Prior to this ambitious redesign, CMPnet closely resembled a magazine–each
day the home page carried the ‘technology story du jour,’ as well as links to
the best news and features on CMP’s more than two dozen Web sites,” said
Rebecca S. Barna, vice president/group publisher for CMP’s Internet Media
Group. “We have listened to our users and as a result we have completely
overhauled our interface into one that’s faster and easier to navigate; now,
it’s a virtual technology search engine on steroids.”

Categories include: News, Product Reviews, Stocks/Finance, Business Computing,
Web Development, Semiconductors, Careers, Downloads, Shopping, Internet,
Games, Resources, Personal Computing, and Leisure.

Beginning this fall, once traffic patterns have been established, the network
will begin
selling sponsorships of entire categories and sub-categories within the browse
tree as well as by specific search keywords, making it easier for vendors to
reach specific audiences, the company said.
