CondNet To Launch Ad-backed Financial Site for Women

CondéNet, a unit of Advance Publications, said it will launch CNCurrency.com, a digital version of
Condé Nast Currency, a 90-page financial supplement, on March 23.

Initial advertisers include American Express Financial Direct, Scudder
Funds, and others. Advertising banners will be rotated throughout the site,
and
sponsors that sign on for three months will also receive a custom content page
linked from every page on the site, the company said.

CNCurrency.com, oriented toward female investors, will cover all stages of
financial management, from those investing for the first time, to those
already managing their retirement funds, and will build on and enhance the
articles found in Condé Nast Currency.

The site will be comprised of four main editorial sections: Taking Stock, Net
Worth/Self Worth, For Love or Money, and Money Online. The site will update
features and articles on a weekly basis.

The site will also offer customized tools to assist users in making important
monetary decisions, such as quizzes to evaluate a users’ investor profile,
calculators to compute the advantages of personal investment strategies, and
calendars that will automatically e-mail reminders of important dates
during tax season and beyond.

There will also be direct links to consumer organizations, financial
institutions, and market information Web sites.

CNCurrency.com has been sold separately from the print version.

Female use of the financial sector of the Internet has doubled in just two
years; in 1997, 36% of women regularly used the Web for financial services,
compared to 16% in 1995, according to a NetSmart survey completed in the
fall of 1997.
