Chevrolet Sponsors Hachette Filipacchi Motor Sports Site

Chevrolet’s Team Monte Carlo, a division of General Motors Corp., is the sole
sponsor of Motorsports 98, a custom Web site on
auto racing from Hachette Filipacchi New Media.

Hachette Filipacchi New Media is the publisher of Car and Driver
Online and
Road and Track Online. Spending was not disclosed.

Motorsports 98 offers complete race results from NASCAR, IRL, CART, NHRA,
Formula 1, and the Craftsman Truck series, plus a “fantasy league” that allows
participants to build their own NASCAR Winston Cup fantasy team. The fantasy
league competition offers a first prize of a trip to next year’s Daytona
500 auto
race.

Jim Docherty, president of Hachette Filipacchi New Media (HFNM), said
Motorsports 98 is a welcome complement to HFNM’s auto-related Web sites,
including Car and Driver Online and
Road and Track Online on America Online. “We’re very pleased to be
working with Team
Monte Carlo on this project,” Docherty said. “It’s a sign of how seriously
both we and Chevrolet take the sport of auto racing.”

The launch of Motorsports 98 coincides with the Team Monte Carlo Thunder
Tour, a free collection of exhibits, show cars, and “hands-on” attractions
traveling across the U.S. throughout 1998 to selected NASCAR races and
Chevrolet dealerships.

Hachette Filipacchi New Media says it is the largest content provider to
America Online, with 23 available titles, including AOL versions of
Elle, Mirabella, George, Family Life,
Woman’s Day, Popular Photography, Road & Track,
Stereo Review, Home, and Met Home. HFNM also
publishes several Web sites, including those for Elle, Car and
Driver
, Eating Well, and Premiere.
