Execs and Accounts for April 23, 2003

Sprinks, a pay-per-click, content-targeted ad vehicle and division of About Inc., has named J Walter Thompson as its agency of record, a relationship that will begin with Sprinks’ first-ever advertising campaign. JWT Technology will handle creative development and media placement for the launch of the ads, set for April 28th.

The first phase of the campaign features a mix of print ads and online sponsorships and will appear in “a number of popular media outlets,” according to Sprinks. The roll-out of the Sprinks creative comes as contextual advertising is becoming a hot sector in the online ad world. The budget was not disclosed.

RedSheriff’s Web Analytics service has been selected by Creative Labs, a developer of digital entertainment products for PC users, for online traffic measurement. RedSheriff will analyze Creative’s site traffic and user behavior as well as drill down into more specific information. The aggregate data will then be used to validate content and visitors’ responses to Creative’s Web presence.

EmailLabs’ e-mail marketing technology has been selected by Jupitermedia, a provider of online news, conferences and research (and parent company to this Web site), to distribute and manage its 175 e-mail newsletters. Jupitermedia said it hopes to include greater personalization, segmentation and advanced reporting in its newsletter program.

Fast Search & Transfer, which recently sold its Web search unit to Overture Services, has struck a deal with consultancy ACIS Consulting in which ACIS will become the first Canadian reseller of FAST’s enterprise search and information retrieval tools. Under the agreement, ACIS will offer its clients product integration, technical support and consulting services to Canadian companies deploying FAST’s search offerings, which are designed to let customers “bridge the gap between information and action,” the companies said.

“Once our customers see the scalability, flexibility and increased ROI they can obtain by deploying FAST Data Search, it will be a very easy sell over competing enterprise search solutions,” said Efrem Habteselassie, president of ACIS.
