Handango, a site for wireless and
handheld devices, and CMGI‘s AltaVista teamed on Wednesday to unveil
AltaVista Shopping
Everywhere
, to which Handango will provide downloadable software and
related hardware.

The agreement calls for Handango to provide more than 8,500 downloadable
handheld applications from more than 3,300 different developers. It will
also offer handheld hardware and accessories for purchase on the site.

The deal raises Handango’s profile, by aligning it with the well-known
AltaVista brand, and it associates the CMGI company
with cutting-edge wireless applications.

“AltaVista Shopping Everywhere addresses the needs of business
professionals everywhere who are seeking expert advice and value-added
applications to expand their handheld device beyond a contact manager,”
said Laura Rippy, chief executive officer of Handango.

Financial details of the agreement weren’t disclosed.
