Avenue A Slims Down
Online marketing services and technology firm Avenue A has cut 75 employees, or 20 percent of its workforce from across the company, a spokesperson confirmed Wednesday.
The cuts are mostly related to this month’s split of the Seattle-based company’s organization into two divisions, focused on media and technology. The downsizing effects both areas.
However, the spokesperson said the cuts wouldn’t impact the rollout of the company’s technology platform for ad agencies, currently slated for third-quarter.
Wheelhouse Lands New Work
Burlington, Mass.-based Wheelhouse this week announced 17 new contracts with existing and first-time clients.
New clients that the marketing technology company will be handling include Cablevision, Eastman Kodak and Atex Media Solutions. Other first-time clients include what Wheelhouse described as a large mutual fund provider and a major auto manufacturer.
Eleven new contracts came from five existing clients, which include J.P. Morgan Chase, Merrill Lynch, and others.
Wheelhouse said it currently services about 40 clients with its CRM and marketing infrastructure services.
Unicast, Zengine Link Up
New York-based Unicast, known for its rich media Superstitial interstitial ad, is joining forces with e-business software firm Zengine, through terms of a deal announced this week.
Through the arrangement, Berkeley, Calif.-based Zengine will add support for Superstitial ads into its technology platform, enabling sites built on Zengine’s platform to accept and run Superstitials.
Zengine provides clients with e-business services ranging from site creation and personalization technology, to content management, e-commerce, CRM and fulfillment. As part of the deal with Unicast, Zengine will promote the Superstitial to its existing client base, which includes manufacturers, retailers and dot-coms, it said.
Unicast, meanwhile, will be able to offer current advertisers access to Zengine’s publishers. The companies said Zengine’s system already includes reporting and analysis tools for the Superstitial.
