In a deal that’s likely a harbinger of things to come, database marketer infoUSA.com and Kivera made an agreement that marries
white- and yellow-page directory information with wireless location services.
Knowing where a wireless user is, and knowing what potential advertisers
are located nearby, are some of the pieces of information necessary to
unlock the full marketing potential of the coming wireless world.
In this deal, infoUSA.com, which has access to the directory assistance
information through its parent company infoUSA, will provide it to Kivera,
a firm that develops and markets interactive mapping and location services.
“This distribution agreement represents our continuing efforts to enter
into relationships with cutting-edge businesses in the wireless world,”
said Bill Chasse, president and chief executive officer of infoUSA.com.
“Wireless is an important emerging market, and we believe that
infoUSA.com’s position as a leading provider of high-quality,
location-specific data makes us a natural partner for wireless solution
providers such as Kivera.”
infoUSA.com’s licenses its directory information to Yahoo!, Microsoft, and InfoSpace, among many others. It’s also
providing the data to other wireless carriers, device manufacturers and
content aggregators.
