Atlanta-based iXL, an Internet solutions company, said it
acquired Image Communications, an eight-year-old
full-service new media firm.
Image Communications specializes in the integration of marketing
communications with enabling technologies and is a key component of iXL’s
expansion in the Washington, D.C.-region, iXL said. Financial terms were not
disclosed.
Image Communications, which will now be known as iXL-D.C., is the first of several new media acquisitions that iXL said it will make along the Mid- Atlantic region to service major D.C.-area corporations. Image is known for its marketing and business multimedia application development for companies like America Online, Lucent Technologies and IBM.
“Image Communications is a significant stronghold that entrenches iXL firmly
in D.C.’s business solutions marketplace,” said Bert Ellis, chairman of iXL
Holdings. “This strategic move bridges a geographical gap between iXL offices
in New York and Atlanta, resulting in the organization of a highly
accomplished, local team for our growing base of mid-Atlantic clients.”
Jeffrey R. Gordon, chairman and chief executive officer of Image Communications will assume the position of president of iXL, D.C.
