McAfee.com, AOL Strike Distribution, Advertising Deal

McAfee.com, the anti-virus and computer
tools provider, on Wednesday trumpeted a two-year distribution and
advertising deal with America Online,
which calls for McAfee.com to provide anti-virus, PC management and
security services over several AOL brands.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the companies
characterized it as a “multi-million dollar” agreement.

McAfee.com is trying to tap into the 20 million strong user base that AOL
has amassed, putting its brand name and services in front of potential
customers, many of which, being new to the Internet and computers, may not
have heard of the McAfee.com brand.

“We both have made the consumer market our core focus and we share a deep
commitment to make that experience a positive one,” says Srivats Sampath,
CEO of McAfee.com.

The deal calls for McAfee.com to be the premier anti-virus service provider
on AOL, AOL.COM, and AOL’s Shop@AOL marketplace. The agreement also
includes McAfee.com’s sponsorship of an Anti-virus Center, a PC Download
Center and a Software Development Center.
