New Century to Focus on Ad Sales

New Century Network, the online
network of newspaper sites, changed its strategy again, dropping its
content development effort to refocus exclusively on selling advertising
across the Web network.


NewsWorks, originally intended to serve as a central consumer gateway to NCN
newspapers, an assortment of 140 daily newspapers sites, will be folded.


Its editor, John Papanek, left the company in August to join Disney’s new
ESPN
Magazine
. The rest of the editorial staff is expected to be reassigned
throughout the company, Adweek reported.
