Independent film producer New Line Cinema signed a marketing deal with America Online that the companies said
“represents the largest online-only upfront media buy by a movie studio to
date.”

New Line will have a major presence on the AOL Movies main screen and promote
its films throughout the AOL Entertainment Channel, AOL Chat areas,
Entertainment Asylum, AOL.com and Digital City. The multi-million dollar
package (specifics were not disclosed) of promotions and advertising will run
over the 16-month term of the agreement.

As a part of its online promotions, New Line will create special areas linked
to AOL for each of its movies. These sites will contain photos and
information on such things as the film’s cast, release date and story line.

In addition, these areas will provide moviegoers with a listing of locations
to see the movie.

“New Line is far ahead of the curve in fully recognizing the promotional
power of the interactive medium and we are pleased that it has chosen to
partner with AOL,” said Bob Pittman, president and chief operating officer of
America Online Inc.
