ONSALE Launches Ad+Vantage Program

Nov 4, 1998

Internet auction site ONSALE Inc. launched its
Ad+Vantage Program to increase awareness of manufacturers’ product offerings
by guiding ONSALE customers to participating manufacturers’ Web sites.

Manufacturers selling transition and re-manufactured inventories on ONSALE’s
Web site “can earn thousands of dollars a month in advertising credits to
promote new products on their respective sites and leverage their
merchandising budgets,” the company said.

“ONSALE’s Ad+Vantage Program is the first and only program where the reseller
pays the manufacturer,” said Merle W. McIntosh, ONSALE’s senior vice president
of merchandise acquisition. “For every dollar of inventory a manufacturer
partner sells through ONSALE, we allocate online advertising credits to
showcase its most current product offerings.”

Advertisers can generate up to 3 percent of their monthly sales volume in
matching advertising credits, which can add to as much as $50,000 a month, the
company said.
Credits can be directed towards customized advertising programs through ONSALE
including enhanced merchandising, e-mail messages, buttons and banners.

For manufacturers selling an assortment of products, ONSALE said it will
develop co-branded storefronts to promote click-through access to the
manufacturers’ showcases.

Created and maintained by ONSALE, each manufacturer will have a customized
“factory showcase” featuring selectable product categories, detailed pricing
and descriptions, warranty information, shipping, and customer service information for each
product.

Manufacturers may send e-mail to advantage@onsale.com for additional
information.
