Report: Amazon.com Banner Seen by 42% of Web Users

New Web measurement service NetRatings
Inc.
said the top banner ad for the week of March 29, viewed by 42% of
the total Web population, was Amazon.com’s sponsor button which shows up
when a Web user does a search on Yahoo!


Sex site Xpics, with a ranking of 15, has the highest
concentration of male visitors with an 82% male audience, the company said.
Woman.com also ranks 15 and has the
highest concentration of females with an 88% female audience.


Rankings are based on measurement of Web activity among a representative
panel of Web users 18 years and older.


NetRatings provides Internet advertisers, media planners, marketers and site
publishers with weekly Web usage information that includes audience response
to ad banners. The previous week’s information is available to subscribers of
NetRatings Online Observer service every Wednesday.


The company said the top 10 banners viewed were:

  • 3. Web Site Story – Top 1000 Web Sites
  • 4. Guest World Guestbook
  • 5. Microsoft Internet Explorer #2
  • 6. Netscape Now 3.0

  • 8. Surplus Direct
  • 9. Autoweb.com
  • 10. Egghead.com
