New Haven, CT-based SendFree launched what it calls “the
Internet’s first autoresponder ad exchange.”

Autoresponders are e-mail devices that return a specified document when
requested by a
customer.

“Customers can send an e-mail to your autoresponder and your information is
immediately sent to them by return e-mail,” said Abbie Drew, co-founder of
SendFree.

SendFree offers free autoresponders coupled with a system that runs members’
ads on the SendFree Autoresponder Network. Every autoresponder message is
delivered with one
ad.

“When somebody sends e-mail to your autoresponder, your ad appears on another
autoresponder message in the system,” Drew said. SendFree’s Autoresponder Ad
Exchange is an adaptation of the link exchange concept.
