Webstakes Changes Name, Repositions As B2B Play

Sweepstakes and promotions player Webstakes Monday changed its name to
Promotions.com in an effort to
de-emphasize its business-to-consumer Web site and focus on providing
promotions for businesses.

“Promotions.com more accurately reflects our current suite of Internet
promotion solutions and in one word defines our long-term vision,” said
Steven Krein, chairman and chief executive officer of Promotions.com.

The company’s product offerings consist of promotions outsourcing, a
targeted e-mail and lead generation service, and Webstakes.com — the
company’s advertising-supported consumer Web site. Its clients include Autobytel.com (ABTL), Compaq Computer Corp. (CPQ), NBC, Road
Runner
, The Sharper Image and
Walt Disney’s GO.com.

The new corporate identity will be launched with a multi-million dollar
marketing campaign that will highlight the success of the online promotions
space.

A trade advertising campaign also launched Monday. The campaign includes
buys in top dailies such as The
Wall Street Journal
, The New
York Times
and Investor’s Business
Daily
along with national trade publications such as Promo,
The Industry Standard,
AdAge, Adweek, DM News and Business 2.0. Part of the effort
will include a new corporate Web site featuring information for marketing
decision-makers, media and investors.

The company is also changing its stock symbol from IWIN to PRMO.
