Yahoo!’s Danish site and Euro909.com, majority owner of a
cable channel and magazine Chili aimed at teens, this week agreed to promote one another on their respective media properties.
The deal calls for banner ads promoting Chili magazine and the chilinet.dk Web site to run on Yahoo! Denmark. In exchange, television, print and online promotions for Yahoo! Denmark will be featured throughout Chili
magazine, chilinet.dk and Euro909.com’s cable television stations – TV Bio+
and DK4.
In addition, the chilinet.dk homepage will give users easy access to Yahoo! Denmark’s content, including a search and directory service, plus tips on surfing the Internet from Yahoo! Denmark’s “How-to” guide. Chili will also sponsor an online auction hosted on yahoo.dk.
For Yahoo! the deal is aimed at boosting traffic among the especially
Internet-savvy Scandinavian audience. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“We believe this agreement is a great way for Euro909.com to further
promote the Chili brand within the youth market in Denmark,” says Erik
Winther, chief executive officer of Chili-group. “The agreement also will help us drive more traffic to our various Web sites, particularly students and young business professionals.”
Chili magazine, which also has Web sites at http://www.chilinet.dk and http://www.chilinet.se, is one of the
most popular youth-oriented magazines in Denmark, and also one of the most
popular in Sweden. Total monthly readership stands at more than 400,000.
