Alight Inc. said it plans a first-quarter 2000 launch for an eponymous
e-commerce, content and community Web site aimed at full-figured women.

“alight.com is all about redefining the full-figured woman’s experience,”
said Jon Langbert, president and chief operating officer.

“We will be the
premier, full-service solution dedicated to providing health and fitness
resources, fashion and beauty advice, emotional support, relationship
guidance and personal and professional networking
opportunities in an environment that celebrates plus-sized women.”

This segment of consumers, which currently numbers approximately 52 million
(19 percent of the total U.S. population), represented $24 billion of the $86
billion of U.S. women’s apparel spending in 1998, according to a recent NPD
Group study.

Alight.com was begun with a $1.5 million investment from RRE, a national
venture capital firm.
