Legend, Extreme Networks Partner on Enterprise Solutions

Extreme Networks is partnering with China’s leading PC maker, Legend Group, to provide enterprise customers across China with co-branded networking systems that the companies claim will offer the industry’s lowest total cost of ownership (TCO).

The deal calls for Extreme’s BlackDiamond and Alpine brands of modular switching platforms to be integrated into Legend’s “Collaborating Application” platform so that the two can provide large enterprises with a complete solution for high performance servers, data storage and Ethernet networking functionality.

Extreme and Legend will also partner to sell co-branded switching systems featuring
scalable 10 Gigabit Ethernet with support for IPv6 technology and advanced
bandwidth management with Quality of Service (QoS).

“This type of partnership is one of the steps Extreme is undertaking to
strengthen its position as a dominant networking vendor,” said Chris Todd,
senior vice president of worldwide sales for Extreme Networks.

Extreme Networks entered the Chinese market in early 2000 and has localized its products to ensure compatibility within the region. It now has offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.

“Built on the strength of Legend’s product offerings and the growing market
share of Extreme Networks in China, this is a win-win solution for local
customers,” said Wan Changqing, general manager of Legend Group’s Networks
Division.
