SBC Ameritech Thursday contracted Vancouver, Wash.-based enhanced data and broadband communications service provider New Edge
Networks to provision inter-LATA frame relay and ATM data services to its customers.

The companies did not disclose financial details of the multi-year agreement.

SBC and New Edge have had a similar agreement — one which covered SBC customers in Pacific Bell and Southwestern Bell
territories — in place since 1996. The new deal expands the relationship to cover the five Midwestern states served by SBC.

“Our agreement with SBC represents a substantial new business opportunity for New Edge Networks in the SBC Ameritech region and
builds on a long-standing relationship our two companies have,” said Dan Moffat, president and chief executive of New Edge Networks.

The agreement allows SBC to act a single point of contact for ordering data communications services, minimizing the operational
issues that stem from utilizing multiple carriers to install and maintain customers’ wide area data networks.
