Aruba Ships Latest AirWave Wireless Management Suite Upgrade

Aruba announced Thursday the release of the latest upgrade to its AirWave Wireless Management Suite—version 6.3.

The new software offers full graphical configuration of Aruba Mobility Controllers, as well as initial provisioning of Aruba APs. It also completes the integration of Aruba-specific configuration features into the AirWave platform.

The software also features rule-based rogue classification, building on a technology that Aruba acquired from Network Chemistry. Network monitoring is made possible via iPhone, Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and other Web-enabled mobile platforms, as well.

A spokesperson did not respond to an interview request Thursday, but in a press release, Bryan Wargo, general manager of Aruba’s AirWave division said, “This new software release completes the integration of Aruba-specific configuration features into the AirWave platform, a process started when Aruba acquired AirWave Wireless last year. The new rogue detection capability enhances technology that we acquired from Network Chemistry, and raises the security of any wireless LAN with which it is used regardless of the original vendor—Cisco, Motorola, ProCurve, etc.”

Key features include: real-time trending, traffic, usage, capacity, location, and status updates, including the ability to rewind and replay data; support for multiple generations of technology, wireless standards, and vendors through a single console interface; comprehensive reporting including assistance with PCI audits; and “extensive” Help Desk features and interfaces to trouble ticket solutions.
