Averatec, formerly known as Sotec
America, Wednesday launched a new laptop with built-in 802.11b for budget-minded
users.

The 3150P is powered by AMD’s new Mobile Athlon XP-M processor and includes
256MB of RAM, a 30GB hard disk, a DVD/CD-RW combo drive, USB 2.0 ports and
Microsoft Windows XP Professional. The 4.3-pound notebook will retail for $1050.

The Foothill Ranch, Calif.-based company also introduced a model sans Wi-Fi
for $100 less. The 3150H comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home rather than
Professional, but otherwise offers the same configuration as the 3150P model.

Both notebooks are bundled with CyberLink’s PowerDVD XP, Roxio’s Easy CD
Creator 5, Norton AntiVirus 2003, and Microsoft Works 7.0.
