Sanyo Making WiMax Handset

Beceem announced this week that its BCS200 chipset will power a planned 802.16e (mobile WiMax) handset that Sanyo plans to bring to the market in the future. The phone will actually be dual-mode, supporting both WiMax and CDMA cellular, a Sanyo specialty. Beceem’s BCS200 includes a baseband processor and direct conversion radio/modem software.
