Paratek Microwave, Inc. today introduced its DRWiN WLAN scanning antenna at CTIA. The company claims that this is the first electronically scanning WLAN antenna for indoor subscriber applications.

Ali Pourtaheri, president and CEO of Paratek, says, “The DRWiN(TM) WLAN antenna is a low-cost solution that enables a variety of high-speed data applications in virtually any scenario where wireless networks are established. Targeted for residential users, wireless office solutions, factory floors and most any workplace in today’s society, the antenna is easily transportable and offers a fully automated, plug-and-play operation. This antenna marks Paratek’s first venture into the consumer market.”

Paratek stated that the antenna is compatible with all 802.11b devices with external RF connectors. It functions by maximizing the gain toward the AP by using its narrow scanning beam, which lowers interference, doubles the data rate, and extends the range of coverage with a higher quality of service.

The Paratek DRWiN WLAN antenna operates at 2400 MHz, features high gain and two, polarization-diverse, simultaneous electronically scanning beams.
