Agere Systems said Thursday that its ORiNOCO USB Client has been certified for both USB and 802.11b standard compliance.

Lucent claims that this makes its product the first to be certified for both technologies. The client connects home and enterprise devices to a wireless 802.11b network.

Agere was spun off last year from Lucent. Apple Computer private-labels ORiNOCO products for its AirPort line of wireless connectivity products.
