Why should you have to monitor for intruders on your wireless LAN, when someone will do it for you?

AirMagnet and VeriSign have announced a managed security service which uses AirMagnet Enterprise, the company’s distributed WLAN monitoring system. VeriSign’s new Wireless Intrusion Prevention Service (IPS) can be used to monitor networks with AirMagnet Enterprise on a 24-hour basis.

In a press release today, Mike Denning, vice president of security services at VeriSign, said the system “correlates both wired and wireless data, providing the most complete risk management solution for VeriSign MSS (Managed Security Services) customers.”

The AirMagnet analysis of the network will be combined with VeriSign’s own TeraGuard architecture for security data collection. VeriSign’s Global Consulting Service will handle design and deployment as needed, and the whole thing will comply with various security regulations, such as HIPAA for healthcare and PCI for retailers.

VeriSign Wireless IPS is ready now for the U.S. and Canada, and should be available in Europe this fall.
