Microsoft Plans One Critical Patch on Tuesday

Microsoft is planning a tame Patch Tuesday next week, advising security professionals that of the two patches it will release, one is critical.

While that might make light work for administrators this month, Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday does not address recently discovered vulnerabilities in Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, much to the surprise of some security experts. eSecurity Planet has the story.


Microsoft has a late Christmas present for security professionals in January.

Following what was one of the largest patch releases in Microsoft’s (NASDAQ: MSFT) history last month, the company’s first Patch Tuesday of 2011 – coming next week – will only feature two patches, just one of which is rated critical.
