AltaVista, Intershop and CyberSource Wednesday rolled out
Homebase StoreFronts, an e-commerce solution for small and mid-sized
businesses which allows merchants to generate traffic off the AltaVista network.

Homebase StoreFronts has expanded basic advertising to full e-commerce
transaction capability within a partner’s portal site.

Sell-side electronic commerce hosting solutions provider Intershop
Communications will offer the technology to power Homebase StoreFronts. In return, AltaVista will offer Intershop ePages to
provide merchants with the ability to rapidly launch e-commerce Web sites as well as to direct local AltaVista traffic to merchant storefronts.

E-commerce transaction services developer CyberSource will add its credit
card processing and fraud screening services for the solution.

“Homebase StoreFronts offers a powerful answer to the two questions that
most plague prospective e-merchants — ‘How do I quickly get my e-commerce
site up and running, and how do I get shoppers there?'” said Bruce Murray,
AltaVista Zip2’s vice president of marketing.

The solution will also include a step-by-step interface for storefront
design. An upgrade path for more advanced services is planned for the end of the year.

“CyberSource e-commerce transaction services coupled with Intershop product
offerings and AltaVista’s market-leading position and reach make Homebase
StoreFronts a formidable turnkey solution,” said Erna Arnesen,
CyberSource’s vice president of channels and partners.

Homebase StoreFronts is expected to become available to AltaVista Homebase
partners and advertisers during the third quarter.
