Americans love to watch their Olympics winners and many of them want to keep
up at work during the day. That’s one of the reasons NBCOlympics.com was the
top gaining site for the week ending Sept. 24, with 544,000 average daily
unique visitors.

The figures represent a 418.6 percent increase over its prior three-week
average, according to measurement firm Media Metrix.

The time difference with Sydney, Australia, has allowed many Americans to
tune in on the Web while at work and thus get a jump on the nightly Olympics
broadcasts on NBC TV.

Other Olympics sites also did well, including olympics.com, the official
site, which increased 309.4 percent to 416,000 average daily unique visitors
from the week of the opening ceremony through the first full week of the
games.

Interestingly, Americans also seem to like their cartoons, as the second
fastest gainer for the week was cartoonnetwork.com at 175.7 percent,
according to Media Metrix.
