Another Online College Textbook Store Opens

University Textbooks has launched as another entry in the online campus
textbook wars, offering up to 40 percent off and direct delivery to the
house/dorm room.

UTbooks.com said it offers students
multiple ways to pay for their books, including personal or business checks.

If the bookstores on their campus will not buy back their old books from
previous semesters, UTbooks.com offers students bookswapping.

The company
said it has a selection of nearly 250,000 new and used textbooks, study aids
and general trade
books available for immediate shipping.

Competition includes varsitybooks.com, efollet.com and several others.

UTbooks.com was founded by four college students: Mostansar Virk, 25;
Hysam Hammad, 25; Kashif Haque, 23; and Haitham Kayed, 25, all
graduates of universities in Michigan except Virk who graduated from Wayne
State University.

“We were sick of the long lines and shoddy service at the monopoly which
passed for our bookstore” said Haque.

According to the Association of American Publishers, the market for new
college textbooks generates $2.7 billion in annual sales.
