AppointmentWeb Launches Online Reservation Service

Sep 9, 1999

AppointmentWeb is launching a new
Internet service that lets consumers make free online appointments and
reservations with a variety of participating businesses, anytime and from
anywhere, using a standard browser.

AppointmentWeb said its interface makes it easy for consumers to book
repeating appointments — a golf game every Saturday, a haircut every two
weeks — and to request a reminder e-mail message to be sent to their mailbox, cellular phone or pager.

Users can also download appointments to their Palm or Windows CE device.

“AppointmentWeb really empowers the consumer, and greatly enhances the
ability of a business to deliver quality customer service quickly and
efficiently,” said Tassos Anastassiades, co-founder of AppointmentWeb.

“Using AppointmentWeb, a customer doesn’t have to wait on hold or wade through
layers of voice mail prompts.

AppointmentWeb said the service can be adopted in stages by a growing
business and it can be customized to offer appointments for all the services
a business provides, or just a subset. An on-site Internet connection isn’t
even required to get started.

The service is currently in beta and is scheduled to go live in the fall.
