Bidder’s Edge Adds to Auction Coverage

Despite its legal troubles with eBay Inc., auction portal Bidder’s Edge moved undeterred to spruce up its business Monday with a revamped look and a new e-zine that makes bidding at auctions easier.

“The Inside Edge” provides
features, advice and analysis in reporting on online auctions. It augments
Bidder’s Edge’s search and tracking tools by offering news on the hottest
trends, most intriguing auctions and latest prices of auctioned goods.

Larry Canale, former editor in chief of Tuff Stuff, a national guide to
sports cards and collectibles, serves as editorial director for
Bidder’s Edge. He leads a team of editors and writers in covering such
categories as coins and currency, computers and
electronics, collectibles and antiques, entertainment, sports memorabilia
and travel and leisure. Every week, the editors of The
Inside Edge post nearly 40 new pages of material about the Internet auction
marketplace.

“The Inside Edge’s goal is to keep auction users up-to-date on what is
selling, why certain items are hot and what you can expect to
pay,” says Canale. “If a certain toy collectible, antique or sports memento
is showing up in more and more online auctions, The
Inside Edge lets our readers know about it — and why it’s happening. The Inside Edge, combined with our site’s search and tracking
functionality, provides a one-stop source for auction users looking to find it, track it and win it at Bidder’s Edge.”

The Inside Edge’s format includes 13 “InfoCenters,” which are equipped with the Bidder’s Edge Index (BEI), a new service that helps users track the volume and daily change of items bought and sold in online auctions, and a Top 10 list of each category’s most sought-after items.
