Pre-owned music retailer CD Warehouse Inc. signed a deal with
person-to-person e-commerce site Half.com Inc. to become an exclusive
third-party online selling partner.
CD Warehouse (CDWI), through its Internet sales system, will begin making its
extensive
inventory of more than one million used CDs available to online shoppers
through Half.com’s site.
Financial arrangements were not disclosed.
During the second quarter, all CD Warehouse’s company-owned stores and
warehouses will have their inventory listed on Half.com. Over the coming
months, CD Warehouse franchisees will also have the option to upload their
inventory to Half.com’s site. The link between Half.com and CD Warehouse’s
e-commerce inventory management system will automatically fulfill the order
from the nearest participating CD Warehouse store that has the desired CD in
stock.
Half.com connects buyers and sellers of previously owned books, music, movies
and
video games. Every item is available immediately for at least half off list
price, with no bidding or competition.
“Half.com will introduce our extensive inventory to a large and growing
online audience who appreciates the ability to purchase previously owned CDs
at great prices,” said Jerry Grizzle, chairman and chief executive officer of CD Warehouse, which
franchises and operates retail music stores in 40 states, the District of
Columbia, England, France, Guatemala, Canada and Venezuela under the names CD
Warehouse, Disc Go Round, CD Exchange and Music Trader.
